2 movies...1 night/morning

so last night/morning i sat down and watched big fish and saved! the first one was better than the last, but still...

big fish is about a guy out to find out who is dad REALLY is; all he gets are stories and tall-tales which upsets him, because he thinks his father is withholding his true self. it is a good movie and it reminds me of my own father; i know of him, but i don't really know him. i've been told by many people about his running exploits, his (early) CHRISTian years, etc... but i don't really know him for him... that is, i have other people's memories of who he is and was.
(so yeah, this means there's a disconnectedness between my father and i.)
i wonder how well he really knows me, i mean really really!

it is at the ending of the movie that grabs at me the most; his father dies and all his friends (in a story his son improvises) are there as he dies/is set free...
GO SEE IT!

"saved" is the other movie i saw; it was quasi-sacrilegious but it portrayed a lot of evangelists who are out there who won't get off their soap-box to actually connect and know the people they're speaking to. now the concept of sleeping with someone who is a homosexual for the sake of 'converting' them back to heterosexuality is...a little more than distasteful, and then done because 'Jesus said to do it!' doesn't float the boat either.

it's hard to explain completely how this movie is, so your best bet is to check it out and see it yourself.
